About Emrys

Hi!

I'm Emrys, the founder of Barbie's Best Bakes. 

Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my paternal grandmother, Barbara. Or, as many called her, Barbie. She was a wife, mother to 6 kids and grandmother and great grandmother to too many kids to count. Meaning, she always had a full house of kids to feed. I'd always hear stories growing up of the goods she used to bake and always wished I was able to have tried them, but by the time I was old enough, she was too tired to bake the way she used to. 

In 2020, like a lot of people, I got into many new hobbies and the one I found the most passion and enjoyment from was baking. It was also during this time my grandma Barb's dementia really started to ramp up and her health began to decline. 

When she passed I found great comfort during the grieving process by baking. I'd bake family recipes, Pinterest recipes, cookbook recipes, and tried coming up with a few recipes, too. Baking has become a major part of who I am in a lot of ways and has taught me a lot of life lessons. 

My hope for this is to help bring the joy of a homemade baked good to your friends and families homes for the holidays, special events, or just because it's Friday, the same way my grandma brought joy to everyone who knew her.
